The proposal was to turn the area into a park, a green lung in the middle of traffic-choked KL and a respite from city life. The park is then sustained by the commercial and residential developments surrounding it with the construction of Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC Convention Centre, Hotels and Office Towers.

The park is a master piece conceptualised by the world renowned Brazilian landscape artist, the late Roberto Burle Marx. TV10 : Sentul Urban Renewal Project & Sentul Park Development (AVAILABLE)
Launched in 1995, the city's largest urban development was set to turn Sentul from a poor suburb to a vibrant, colourful and modern one. The multi-billion ringgit project was initially known as Sentolia. However, it was then suggested to be called Sentul Raya, so as not to lose the significance of the area to the history of Kuala Lumpur.

Sentul Raya Development comprise residential units, offices, restaurants, a museum and a 12ha park, the size of St James Park in London. Due to the fact that the site is divided by the existing Sentul KTM Komuter station and tracks, the concept of the plan characterizes the two halves differently, thereby forming the unique personalities of Sentul West and Sentul East.

Sentul West would have Malaysia's first private gated park, accessible exclusively to an estimated 20,000 residents of the 4,000 luxury condo units. It is now the home of KL Performing Art Centre, Sentul Park and Japanese Koi Garden and Restaurant.

Sentul East would be a blend of the traditional and ultra-modern concept. It would have lofts and residences with open architecture. A distinctive feature would be the elevated pedestrian "skywalk." that linked the train and light rail transit station to the commercial and residential area.

Come and discover the inspiration from the master developer on one of KL’s Premier Urban Renewal Project.
